Final Project
Goal: The goal of the web site is web pages that talk about solar flares and nova flares with info and pictures in an interesting background design.
Targeted Audience: The target audiences is an all age web site that uses shapes and colors that would might attract people.
Design: This page would be made up of hot colors of red, orange, and yellow. The left side border would have a curve to it, and the right side border will also have a curve that goes behind the first. The left side border would have a top navigation sign and rectangle buttons that are link to other topics on this site, or to other resources. The title or header would have red and orange colors. Next to the right side of the header will be a logo to the upper right corner. The background between the two curves would have a white background. In the middle of the page there is a circle that will have these chains or other circles that are connected to rectangle objects/and buttons (these buttons will kink to other pages on the website). The button text will use Verdana font for the text on the buttons. At the right side of the corner there is a circle object that would be a link for others companies, resources, or being used to give a link or email the person that made this web page. The circle with the triangles around it was done with the pen tool. The Nova Flare logo was done with a circle and was cut with the cut tool, and had text place between it.
The additional pages will be almost the same design with a red curve to the left side, and a half orange sun that will be at the right side of the page. The text used on these pages will use Verdana text.
Outlined Steps: This has been created with Fireworks so far, and the rest of it would be done with Dreamweaver.
Time: It took about five hours to make the sketches and designing it in fireworks just to start out with the prototype of the homepage, the additional page design, and gathering of info. The time it took to finish the rest of the project took about ten hours, and most of it consisted of problem solving just for the first two hours. The rest was designing it and putting on so finishing touches to some of the detailed sites.
Challenges: No major challenges so far on the project. The project was mainly design with fireworks, and the main challenge to this was the masking of the picture with the vector circle to fit in with the surrounding circles. There was some problems trying to see if some of the links work on the website and they did not. They were transfered on another computer to see if the links work on that computer, it seem to have worsen than the last computer trying to test it on Internet Explorer. Then it was opened up with Mozilla Firefox and much of the links did worked. There are some problems trying to upload the entire file on the web server, and the problem was that there were only a few megabytes of web space that was given for availability. The problem has been solved so far by sending an email to ask if extra web space can be given.
Learned: What was learned from this so far was how to change the mouse design in Dreamweaver when loading html pages with this extension design.
